Safety
When it comes to traffic safety, a distinction is generally made between various means of transportation. This includes road traffic safety, rail or railway traffic safety, ship or maritime safety and air traffic safety.
The purpose of traffic safety is to prevent accidents (active safety) and to reduce the consequences of accidents (passive safety).
In the event of an incident, fractions of seconds can be decisive – for instance, when a convertible overturns or crashes. Within just a few milliseconds, our pyrotechnical or electromagnetic actuators release the locked and pre-stressed roll bar, which then extends, preventing the worst. Our products work at lightning speed and with maximum reliability – with a small number of components, reduced motional mass and overexcitation.
The intelligent actuator plays a crucial, often life-saving, role in situations where a passer-by is thrown onto the engine hood during a pedestrian accident or when the active headrest must eliminate the consequences of a rear-end collision; it is also important in applications aimed at providing extra comfort or convenience. The actuator releases the external force exerted on it for deployment within milliseconds, following an electrical signal.
