Metering pumps for DPF systems

Diesel particulate filters are designed to collect particulate matter. Therefore, they have to be regularly regenerated so that they do not become clogged. The regeneration process involves burning the soot particles in the filter to make it permeable again. This is done by adding more fuel to the exhaust gas flow in order to increase the temperature to a level that allows the particulate matter to burn off. For safety reasons only exactly the amount of fuel necessary must be added. The aim is to avoid unwanted combustion of the fuel, as surplus fuel increases the environmental and safety risk.

This is why the preferred option for this application is a metering pump with special shut-off valves to provide a reliable seal. The pumps are guaranteed to deliver precise amounts of diesel fuel and prevent undesirable flow of fuel over their entire service life.
